Chorros de Calera – El Salvador

Cerca de Juayúa se encuentran los Chorros de Calera, el mejor lugar para ir en la mañana después de haber disfrutado durante la en la Feria Gastronómica que tiene lugar cada fin de semana en esta ciudad.
Los paisajes que rodean Juayúa son cafetales y volcanes, la tierra volcánica es la principal culpable de el intenso sabor que tiene el café salvadoreño, y yo lo que hice en Juayúa fue cenar una buena cantidad de «pupusas» salvadoreñas y levantarme temprano para disfrutar de un buen desayuno con un mejor café. Y con el estómago bien lleno nos dirigimos al camino que lleva a los Chorros de Calera, una serie de cascadas de agua que caen desde cortes de las paredes de la montaña y que forman pozas como piscinas en las que se puede disfrutar de un baño, si lo frío que está el agua no te tira para atrás.

Son como unas piscinas públicas en las que se mezclan locales y (pocos) para disfrutar del sol y refrescar el cuerpo, aunque los locales también utilizan estas pozas como lavaderos, creando unas bonitas estampas.

Lavando

El camino es largo y escarpado, recorre bastantes saltos de agua metidos en un bosque selvático. Nosotros no lo hicimos entero, paseamos un poco, nos bañamos y decidimos ir a comer pescado a la costa, para salir de las «pupusas«, que me tenían enganchado. Las pupusas son como tortillas de maíz pero rellenas, de frijol, queso, carne, verdura… es el plato típico salvadoreño. No se puede visitar el país sin comerse 2 o 3 docenas de pupusas, en algunos sitios están increíbles y en Juayúa… si me esfuerzo podría recordar el sabor… pero voy a dejar de babear ya.

Para llegar desde el pueblo al camino que va a los Chorros solo hay que preguntar a los locales, todo el mundo conoce el lugar y una vez que sales del pueblo está bastante bien señalizado. Nosotros fuimos con la furgoneta de Roberto pero también se puede llegar en mototaxi, en tuc tuc o caminando… no está cerca pero dicen que el camino está chulo.
