«Pescando con volcán» es una serie de fotos a Gabriel, un pescador chapín que disfruta cada mañana buscando presas entre las aguas del Lago Atitlán, porque lo que hace Gabriel no es solo pescar, es sentir el Lago.
Varias veces le dije lo mucho que envidiaba las vistas que tenia en «su oficina».
Atitlán es un lugar mágico, con una energía especial e indescriptible. Las vistas del lago, particularmente desde Panajachel, son espectaculares.
El volcán San Marcos a la derecha y el Cerro de Oro a la izquierda, escoltado por el Tolimán y el Atitlán , hacen que sentarte a mirar el paisaje pueda dejarte absorto durante horas, deseando parar el tiempo para siempre o que, al menos, esa imagen no se borre jamás de la memoria.
Atitlán se encuentra en las Highhlands guatemaltecas, uno de los paisajes más dramáticos y espectaculares del país, desde mi punto de vista. Los alrededores del lago me cautivaron y desde que volví no he podido olvidar aquellas imágenes.
Una de las fotos de Gabriel pescando acabó formando un tríptico que realicé para la exposición en Aperitivos Visuales del año pasado. Se vendió el día de la inauguración y volvió a venderse por encargo durante el año. Es una de mis creaciones más personales, y una de las que más aprecio.
Este post es solo una introducción a Atitlán, quería presentaros uno de los lugares que más me «marcaron» en el viaje, y no lo digo únicamente por el Dios del Tiempo Maya que quedó grabado para siempre en mi gemelo.
