Cara Norte Everest

Este post es en recuerdo de los 13 Sherpas que perdieron su la semana pasada intentando equipar las vías con las que otros alcanzarán la fama y el honor. Tres más siguen desaparecidos y las esperanzas de encontrarlos con vida se desvanecen con el tiempo.

Ha sido una de las mayores tragedias que han ocurrido en esta montaña, en este totem del himalayismo y del montañismo en general. En la cima del mundo, el techo de este planeta hostil que hoy celebra su día.

Tal vez sirva para que las condiciones de estos titanes de la montaña, estos superheroes de ojos rasgados, mejoren de una vez y reciban las recompensas que sus esfuerzos merecen. No lo creo. Servirá para recordar lo dura que es la vida en la altura y la fuerza de la madre naturaleza frente a la pequeñez que representa el ser humano ante tanta magnificencia.
Somos enanos entre gigantes por mucho que intentemos negarlo.

Y como estos Sherpas, estos increíbles escaladores, tienen nombres y apellidos, como los de los montañeros occidentales que perecen, a veces, en similares circunstancias, voy a ponerlos aquí. Los 13 fallecidos son:

-Dorji Sherpa, de Namche-4 (Solukhumbu)
-Ang Tshiri Sherpa, de Namche-07
-Nima Sherpa, de Namche-09
-Phurba Ongyal Sherpa, de Khumjung-07 (Solukhumbu)
-Lakpa Tenjing Sherpa, de Khumjung-02
-Chhring Ongchu Sherpa, de Khumjung-02
-Dorjee Khatri, de Lelep-09 (Taplejung)
-Then Dorjee Sherpa, de Khumjung-07 (Solukhumbu)
-Phur Tempa Sherpa, de Yaphu-09 (Sankhuwasabha)
-Pasag Karma Sherpa, de Juvin-05 (Solukhumbu)
-Asman Tamang, de Sotang-09 (Solukhumbu)
-Ang Kaji Sherpa, de Makalu-09 (Sankhuwasabha) 

Los Sherpas que permanecen desaparecidos son:

-Tenzing Chottar Sherpa, de Namche-09 (Solukhumbu)
-Pem Tenji Sherpa, de Choksam-02 (Solukhumbu)
-Ash Bahadur Gurung, de Laprak-07 (Gorkha)

Los nombres, apellidos y pueblo de procedencia los ha proporcionado el Ministerio de Turismo de Nepal pero yo los he tomado prestados del post de Fernando J. Pérez en uno de los blogs de El Correo: La mayor tragedia del Everest se ceba con los sherpas.

La foto es de Agosto del año pasado desde la parte tibetana. Es la cara norte, una de las más duras, famosa porque en ella se encontró el cuerpo de George Mallory en 1999. Desapareció en su tercer intento de en 1929 y nunca se sabrá si consiguió hacer cima 29 años antes de que Edmund Hillary y Tenzing Norgay pasasen a la historia como los primeros en pisar el punto más alto del planeta.

  1. Que increíble experiencia… me encantaría estar ahí, muy bellas fotos, soy de Chile, pero no he estado ahí, igual al viajar por otros países y ciudades es conveniente tener un mapa, información de locales o lugares para visitar, su sitio web es increíble en ese sentido 😀 felicitaciones.
