31 de Diciembre de 2012, Mulhacén, a 3478,6 metros sobre el nivel del mar y mucho más alto aun sobre todas las cosas humanas.
Siempre había querido empezar un post parafraseando la introducción que usó Nietzche para su indescifrable «Así habló Zaratustra» y creo que esta era la ocasión perfecta.
En estas condiciones comenzaba el fin del 2012 desde la cima de la Península Ibérica. El plan en un principio consistía en hacer cima el 1 de Enero a las 00:00h, la luna estaba practicamente llena y podía ser una ascensión nocturna preciosa pero las condiciones climatológicas y un cúmulo de circunstancias de diversa índole dieron al traste el plan.
Todo empezó con una ventisca y una bajada de la temperatura que nos impidieron llegar el primer día al refugio de Villa Vientos. Hicimos noche en el refugio de Carihuela, cerca de la cima del Veleta, y a la mañana siguiente sin haber dormido practicamente por culpa del frío, seguimos el camino a Villa Vientos. Por si las condiciones no eran suficientes decidimos complicarnos la aventura «paseando» por Sierra Nevada todo el equipo de escalada en hielo (cuerdas, clavos, arneses, cascos…), para que conociesen un poco la montaña y transformar el camino en insufrible.
Pasamos una noche algo menos fría en Villa Vientos, nos levantamos temprano y empezamos la ascensión a Mulhacén por la cara Oeste. La nieve estaba perfecta para los crampones y en cerca de hora y media estábamos hollando la cima de la montaña.
Las casi 8 horas de bajada hasta el coche se hicieron largas pero merecieron la pena, y en vez de una sopa de noodles muertos de frío en un refugio de montaña nos pegamos una cenaza en Cenes de La Vega en casa del Señor Oscar. Creo que salimos ganando.
El primer viaje del año ha sido por carretera, de Granada a Madrid, el día 1 recién levantado. Parece un buen pronóstico para que 2013 sea un año viajero. El 2012 lo fue, y además con contrastes, lo empecé a cero metros sobre el nivel del mar en Filipinas y lo terminé a 3.478 en la cima del Mulhacén. Terminando por todo lo alto, por encima de todas las cosas humanas.
