Siem Reap y los turistas de Angkor… queria decir templos?

Cuando llegamos a Siem Reap nos alojamos en el Garden Village Guesthouse, me habían hablado muy bien de este hostal, y con mucha razón. Habitaciones limpias y baratas, internet gratis, restaurante en la azotea desde el que observar estupendos atardeceres y happy hour durante todo el día con cervezas por 50 centavos de dolar. Que más?… un equipo de personas de lo mas divertido y amable… simplemente perfecto.

En el hostal gestionamos toda la visita a los templos de . El precio de la entrada es de 20$ para 1 día, 40$ para 3 y 60$ para una semana. Para visitarlos puedes elegir entre bicicleta, moto o tuk-tuk. Nos juntamos 7 personas y cogimos 3 tuk-tuk, fueron 5 $ por persona para el primer y tercer día y 7 $ para el segundo. Yo hice el primer día el circuito pequeño: Angkor Wat, Bayon y Ta Prohom. Los espectaculares paisajes de templos y naturaleza llegan a quedar empañados ante la cantidad de que abarrotan Angkor. Hay momentos en que dudas si estas en o en Disneyland. Es muy complicado hacer fotos en los que no aparezca gente y conlleva esperas de mas de 30 minutos en el mismo sitio con la cámara en la mano.
Eso si, alucinaras con la espectacularidad de Angkor, las impresionantes caras esculpidas sobre Bayon y las imágenes de película de templos comidos por las raíces en el Ta Prohom.

El segundo día tocó la ruta grande, en Angkor Wat, Preah Khan, Ta Som y Pre Rup. Muy bonitos todos pero entre que te has levantado a las 4.30 am, la cantidad de turistas y el abrasador sol, solo te quedan ganas de volver al hostal a dormir la siesta. Para mi fue muy decepcionante levantarme a esas horas, llegar aun de y encontrarme rodeado de cientos y cientos de turistas (muchos japoneses) tirando fotos o aplaudiendo la salida del sol… no llegas a poder disfrutarlo del todo.

El día siguiente fuimos a ver el amanecer al Roluos Group, un grupo de templos mas alejados y que aunque no son tan bonitos, tampoco congregan esa cantidad de turistas. Disfruté mucho mas del amanecer de ese día que el anterior en Angkor.

La afluencia masiva de turistas hace perder una parte de la belleza de este lugar, pero es tan impresionante que siempre merecerá la pena disfrutar de la grandiosidad de esta zona arqueológica con más de 1000 años de antigüedad.

Siem Reap tiene poco más que ver, pero es un buen lugar para descansar y relajarse otro par de dias antes de continuar el .
